The Jada team worked to effectively consolidate two major PLM platforms: the PDMS and MCAE Team Center. Multi-year PLM roadmap to deliver the new generation PDM system to the lab. The first phase of the go-live, M2020 will be using the new system to perform PDM functions on 2 sub-systems. Using this experience, the other sub-systems will be brought into the EPDM in subsequent phases. Address IT concerns with supportability and sustainability of an aging PDMS platform. With the synergized team from both PDMS and MCAE, IT team provides the needed technical services with greater coverage than before. Engineering processes from the old PDM system have been successfully replicated and significantly improved

Systems Administration

Our Senior Linux System Administrator works with a team of System Administrators supporting customers located at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Job duties include all aspects of system administration including installation, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of Linux servers, both hardware and virtual. Our System Administrator is responsible for disk storage devices, SAN and NAS devices, and along with network equipment. Responsibilities also include building, configuring, and troubleshooting open source and commercial applications, backups and restoration, user support, and documentation.

The OAM Projects (Database Administration)

Jada Systems Data Base Administrators configure, install and maintain multiple database instances and provide application level database support as required; develop and review database structures, monitoring, performance tuning, database upgrades, data backup and recovery procedures; diagnose database errors and perform database space/capacity management, error analysis, and application tuning; provide Level 3 support and collaboration with the JPL IT OPS system level database administrator (who will perform all routine, Level 1 and 2 procedures); work with Oracle support on Service requests; work with customers and provide on-call support as required.

Business Analysis

We have provided a business analyst at NASA/JPL who supported processing, analyzing, and managing remotely sensed science data and utilizing image processing tools, such as ENVI. Duties included:

Design, implementation, and testing of science software applications in Python
Spectral image processing and geospatial analysis in Python  Shell scripting in Linux  environment
Management of data sets and data collections including subscriptions, backups, and QA, Linux system administration (Ubuntu)
Programming in C++, IDL and MATLAB; analyzing remotely sensed data and using image processing tools
Supports hardware and software technology upgrades with scientists and application development groups.

Signal and Data Analysis

Our Data Engineer is currently supporting multiple programs within our NASA portfolio. We are working closely with science researchers, and responsible for the full lifecycle and operation of science analysis software. JPL’s science teams study the performance of new instrument technologies and techniques through a variety of remote sensing investigations. Data from these campaigns typically needs to be analyzed and visualized rapidly, through the use of prototyped software. The results often point researchers to adapt algorithms to pull out additional information from the data. We are working to thrive in this environment, envision and implement these changes into code, analyze and communicate the results.

Help Desk Support

Our Help Desk Specialists to provide responsive and accurate technical assistance in person, via phone, or utilizing electronic methods. They are responsible for ensuring maximum user uptime and providing a high level of customer service. Resolve client desktop-related problems using a wide range of support tools and solutions. Work both independently and in collaboration with other members of the IT team.

Job duties include:
Identify, troubleshoot, resolve, and document end-user system issues and requests
Take ownership of the help desk ticketing system by responding to, managing, and prioritizing end-user support request tickets, calls, and emails
Ensure all requests are resolved in a timely manner and with high-quality results
On-site and remote technical 1st and 2nd level support for Windows 7, Mac OSX, Windows XP, iPhone, and Cisco VoIP
Configure, deploy, and relocate corporate desktops and laptops
Perform systems back up and image creation
Ability to prioritize outstanding issues and manage user expectation
Identify, report, and respond to potential virus infections and other security threats
Manage and track all hardware including (but not limited to) desktops, laptops, phones, printers and servers
User Account Administration – Microsoft Active Directory
Create, modify, and purge user accounts as needed for new hires and exits
Software Support on PC & MAC clients including (but not limited to) MS Office Suite of applications, email and VPN clients.

Software Development

Our Senior Software Engineers and Developers support C/C++ algorithm development for MODIS/VIIRS/ECOSTRESS Land Surface Temperature as part of a MODIS Science Team: http://modis.gsfc.nasa.gov/

These projects involve developing Production Generation Executive (PGE) code at MODAPS and at JPL for generating land surface temperature products from the MODIS, VIIRS, and ECOSTRESS space borne thermal infrared sensors.  Our engineer does software engineering in C/C++ to implement and maintain the latest algorithms that the scientists want to use to process the satellite data.

They are also working on VIIRS: http://viirsland.gsfc.nasa.gov/index.html. They have a similar role in software engineering to implement algorithms to process satellite sensor data.

Flight Electronic Test Engineering Support

  • Developed test software environment including low-level software modules and high-level test protocols for the hardware test team.
  • Supported the hardware test team throughout the duration of testing activities:
    • Safe-to-mate (STM), initial power turn-on (IPTO) and functional testing on the hardware (EM and/or Flight) prior to delivery
    • hardware level test cases and maintains test metrics and verification matrices
  • Defined and designed functional test cases to verify L6 and L5 requirements and Verification Items (VI) specified in the FDDs.
  • Created and maintained test procedures and test scripts for the functional test cases.
